Workshop Descriptions
Surya Namaskar - Salute the Sun
Sun Salutations, or Surya Namaskar, is a flowing series of 12 poses which help improve strength and flexibility of the
muscles and spinal column. The series is used in most yoga classes to warm the body and clear the mind. Take this familiar
sequence to the next level with Miri.
This workshop's objectives are to:
- Learn more about the history and philosophy behind surya namaskar and explore its relevance to our lives today
- Break down the alignment details of each pose
- Practice working with the core (bandhas) to explore jumping forward and back
- Review modifications
- Put it all together and experience a flowing surya namaskar practice
Students will leave the workshop with a new appreciation for the series, increase their knowledge of the poses, and gain
confidence in their ability to modify the sequence based on their flexibility. All levels of experience are welcome.
Take Charge of Your Wellness!
Do you want to take the next step towards improving your wellness but aren't sure where to start? Perhaps you want to
reduce stress, lose weight, or increase your activity level? Join me for this unique workshop that combines coaching and
yoga to allow you to relax, focus on yourself, and build a personal wellness plan.
The workshop will begin with a gentle yoga practice to help clear the mind and allow time for reflection. We will then use a
combination of yoga, breathing techniques (pranayama), and coaching tools to:
* Assess current state of personal wellness
* Develop a wellness vision
* Identify what is really motivating you to improve your health
* Identify obstacles that have thwarted progress in the past
* Develop strategies for future success
* Assess the gap between current and desired state
* Create concrete goals to help measure progress towards realizing the wellness vision
This workshop is best suited for people interested in improving one or more aspects of their wellness such as weight
management, improved nutritional intake, increased exercise, stress management, or smoking cessation. Yoga beginners
are welcome.
Yoga 101
Yoga 101 workshops are perfect for anyone brand-new to the practice of yoga, as well as those of you looking to brush up
on the basics. Topics will include a brief discussion of what yoga is all about, basic postures and alignment and breathing
technique to help you feel prepared for beginner and all level classes. In addition there will be time for questions and lots of
personal attention. Private Yoga 101 workshops are available upon request.
Improving Body Image with Yoga
Would you like to have a better relationship with your body? How we view our bodies is largely influenced by the stories we
tell ourselves about them. We can use our yoga practice to make peace with our bodies and write new stories to tell
ourselves. Join Miri to explore how our body image and self-esteem are affected by a variety of factors and develop
strategies to question and confront the distorted ways we see our bodies. This workshop will combine discussion, writing
exercises, and yoga to help you feel more comfortable in your body.
Moms Bliss Night Out
Long summer with the kids? Send them back to school and enjoy a well-deserved girls' night out at Bliss Flow Yoga! Join us
for a pampering evening of yoga, chocolate, delicious gourmet appetizers and massage. This event will begin with a 1-hour
yoga class, great for beginner-to-advanced practitioners. We will then enjoy a reception with gourmet appetizers and
chocolates. Spend the rest of the evening chatting with your girlfriends and getting massaged by one of our certified
massage therapists. The evening will close with a hand-out of pampering door prizes including massage, facial, haircut and
color and much more donated by some of Madison's fabulous women-owned and mom-friendly businesses. You give your
family so much... now give yourself the gift of bliss!
Workshops
